CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT, TRANSLATOR CODE OF ETHICS and PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Confidentiality:

1. Translators shall not at any time transfer/divulge information about a client and/or a translation project. Any information found in documents or any other written material given to the company with the purpose of being translated should be treated with the necessary discretion.

2. Translators shall not discuss or give a personal opinion about material and subject matter that they have come to know in the performance of professional duties.

3. Confidentiality is to be respected and maintained under cases and circumstances, with the exception of when it is legally mandated to disclose information, such as to report a crime.

 Code of Ethics:

1. Translators are forbidden from advising or expressing their personal opinion about the content of a project to which they have been assigned. Translators shall always respect the original content of the material to be translated.

2. Translators shall at all times be neutral and non-discriminatory, impartial and unbiased about the age, gender, disability, color, nationality, social, economic or educational status, race, sexual, political or spiritual orientation of any client or colleague.

3. Translators who are unable to perform the requested professional service, shall withdraw voluntarily from the project without any threat. 

4. Translators shall reveal any conflict of interest arisen from the assignment of a specific project and withdraw from the project whenever such conflict might disrupt the objectivity of the translator.

5. Translators must be at all times respectful of the cultural differences of the companies clients and always be sensitive to the individuals for whom they perform a service.

Professional Conduct:

 1. Translators must demonstrate professional and personal integrity, for example:

 i. If the translator believes to have made errors or omissions in their professional performance, he or she will advise the individual in charge and the client and provide a revised/corrected version of the translated material

2. Translators are strictly forbidden from developing personal relationships with individuals for whom they are performing a professional service

3. Translators shall render the message in its entirety, respecting the cultural, spiritual or moral context of the original.

 4. A translator must refuse an assignment if he or she is aware that he or she will not be able to complete it by the given deadline.

 5. Translators shall be truthful about past professional and educational experiences.

Violations of any of these standards will result in termination of employment and/or contract
